The Ancestral Sit Spot
Co-facilitators, Priestess Anes-a Anyanwa of Daughters of The Root (creators of The Ancestral Sit Spot) and Rev. Doretha Williams-Flournoy from The Living Room will take you on a journey to the Sit Spot; using cultural influences we will envision ourselves in the promised land. Martin Luther King Jr., before he was assinated, announced to the world that he had witnessed the promised land. As a result, he was no longer afraid to move into his purpose and achieve the impossible.
Join us as we engage in candid confidential conversation and cultural practices that will reduce fear, evoke peace and awaken the sacred reality within.
Suicide Awareness for African Americans based on Safe Talk Principles
General Information: Suicide Awareness for African Americans is based on Safe Talk principles. The training teaches participants to recognize and engage persons who might be having thoughts of suicide and to connect them with community resources trained in suicide intervention. The training stresses safety while challenging taboos that inhibit open talk about suicide.
Someone you know may be experiencing a mental illness or crisis, and YOU can help them!
Just as CPR helps you assist someone having a heart attack - even if you have no clinical training – This information can help you save someone experiencing a mental health related crisis.
Safe Black Space
The Living Room, is hosting a Safe Black Space Community Healing Circle which is a safe space for Black folks to come together and experience a sense of safety, hope, support and love in the midst of this increasingly hostile world, where simply living while black can be a challenge...especially amid COVID-19/Corona Virus.
In Safe Black Space Community Healing Circles we can unburden ourselves and begin to understand the root causes of our concerns...all while healing, loving, supporting and celebrating together virtually for now.
If you identify as Black, register for this FREE event facilitated by Safe Black Space Village Volunteers. Join community members, African American mental health providers and faith leaders at this Safe Black Space Virtual Community Healing Circle designed specifically by us and for us.
